No one left behind.

Julie and I have been so blessed and encouraged by friendships we have made with a group of young couples.  We came to know them when we were asked to help with some marriage counseling.  This led to several days at the kashar with them .. The group has continued to grow, and they now help and support each other. It is beautiful to see how well that they are all doing.

Next week our friends that work with this group would like to bring them all for a four day trip to lake Isykool.  The cost for each person including meals accomodations and transportation is about $40 a person many of them are able to cover their own expenses and some have even been able to support others , but they still have about 10 people that we are needing to help so that they can be included .. one is a single mom we know well and another is a family with a disabled child .  In total I would like to send them $400 so that no one is left behind .

We are in Santa Rosa Beach for this weekend . We are excited to share tomorrow at New Life Church .   In our schedule we had 2 hours to visit the beach.  But the whole weekend was calling for thunderstorms.. but our God ! Even the seas only him .   It was a gorgeous few hours just when we needed them .. we had a great time.

Tonight we are having a dinner with those that will be coming on a team to KG this September..

I made some Kyrgy food for them .  Here is some of the tasty treats I have been preparing to go with the bishbalmak.

Uncle Gena needs our help.

Over the last year we have had a man helping us with the food, coal and seed deliveries .  The kids call him Uncle Gena .  I can assure you that he has had a very sorted past, but now spends his days caring for those in need in the village. He knows everyone and he knows when they are in trouble.   everywhere he goes he carries a crinkly old paper covered in scribbles and a short stubby pencil where he keeps track of all those he cares for.

We had not seen him out for a bit so we went to find him.  He is in a bad way and needs help.  He sold his sheep to get treatments on his leg that he has lost blood circulation in, but that is not working .  Next up is a specialty hospital in Bishkek where they will see if they can replace some veins or if they will amputate.  The cost this next round of operations will be about $900, but he has nothing left to sell.  He says that if we can not find help, he is ok with that , he says he is "Ready to be promoted".
There is so much more for him to do , I don't think the rest of his community is ready for that promotion, but the folks he helps are so poor, they have nothing to offer except their prayers.
If you would like to help be an answer to those prayers, please use one of the donation buttons on the top right side of the blog.

Today some of the boys were back into the mountain to help repair the village water supply.    There is a spot where the pipe crosses a river bed and it keeps rupturing there .. So today the guys welded up at 60 foot piece of steel pipe to go across the river , then put the water pipe through it .

Those not at the mountain stayed back and worked around the farm.  They brought in hay, and also bricked up the side walls for the new outhouse we are building.  Certainly lots of work going on.

We are ready for more coal

The second load of coal was delivered today and the boys have just finished bagging it all up.

We are all set and ready to order the next truck load when we have the funds .. we have a bit left from the last donations as the price is still down , so we are looking for $700 to purchase the next load.  Please let us know if you can help.

The gardens are doing great , Max is doing a great job,  It is a lot smaller because of the drought conditions but with careful gardening and the drip erigation, We are expecting almost the same yeild as previous years .   Since we have the tomatoes closer together this year and watered at the base , we are able to steak them up and grow verticaly

A friend from a neighboring village brought us a gift to the farm.  He had some contacts who came from Germany and brought us a spade.  one that the handle will last more then a week .

The boys are also working on a new out house for at the guest house property .

It has a welded frame , and is now carried out to the end of the Bee patch  to be picked up by the truck .

And a reminder that Julie and I are going to be in Santa Rosa Beach this weekend and will be sharing at the Sunday morning services .

Watching the seeds grow

I love getting updates from the garden showing how the seeds we planted are growing.   Those crops like the beets that were planted from seed but not conected to our drip irigation system, we do not weed until around this time of year .. the shade from the weeds actualy helps to cool the soil and retain water for the young plants.  What we wait for is the first good rain in June when the soil gets wet and soft.   then we give the gardens a good weeding, and if it is expected to be dry again then leaving the pulled weeds in the row to keep the ground moist .

Already we have lettuce and zuccinni ready to harvest and in just another week or so we will be picking beans then will come the tomatoes and peppers.   Already there will be plenty of produce for the farm and our guests and by the end of next week we will be able to start making deliveries to orphanages and families in need.

I reciently posted about the fathersday scholarship fund.  I wanted to take a minute and highlight one really special young lady.

It is tricky because I can not share a lot of details about this incredible young girl , but the potential I see in her amazing.  She is activily looking for sponsors, burseries and scholarships for her to continue her education at Moody institute in Chacogo.  Her family works with young moms and troubled families as well as children from the orphaages .  I have been blessed to have her translating for me and for teams when she was as young as 5 or 6.   She has registered to study Clinical Mental Health Counceling .  And what a blessing she will be.

The tuition that she needs to raise is $7000.  She has put in a request for $3000 from us.  I would so love to be able to not just cover the $3000 but excedingly and abundantly more.
I am praying for someone out there who would like to personaly help her or maybe you are part of an organization or church that could sponsor some or all of this .     This is another type of seed that we can plant and watch grow not just for the summer months but for years and even generations to come.

Lord we pray for the seeds.

Fathersday Scholarship fund

Things kind of got away on me this year with regards to Fathers day.   My biggest reminder that it is coming up is that I have started to get some requests for TUITION suport for several of the kids we know.

Now is when the kids are enrolling into collage and university, and with it the tuition payments are due.   Depending on the school and the program, many of these tuitions range from about $500 to $1000  for the year.   the numbers are in and this year We are looking for about $15000 to be able to cover for those we have alredy started suporting and those that have asked that we start suporting this year.

So if you are trying to thinks of something to get dear old dad, why not make a donation on his behalf.  It is allso an opertunity to make a donation in memory of your father .   This is an opetunity to bless a child who has not had the benifit of a loving father and is trying to make it on their own.

And so it Begins !

It's always a blessing when a load of coal arrives but it's a little extra special when it is the first load of the season.   It is  an answer to prayer to those we deliver to.  Every year the number of families we find in need seems to grow, yet every year I wonder if we will be able to do this another year.

One truck load at a time ... This is the first of an estimated 30 truck loads for the season .  It is kind of a boring video of the truck arriving yet somehow I am almost in tears by the end.  As I watch this I think of all the people and all the stories of hard ships and the rielif that this brings.  So it may be just a dump truck turning around, but it reperesents so much more .

It is going to take a few days for this to be bagged up and stacked in the barn .. this will give me a few days to raise the funds for the next load .. As the funds come in we send $1000 cdn  at a time for the next load .. right now I have $270 in so we need another $730 in the next few days to be able to keep this going. Please consider how you can help.

Today Sergey delivered my car to Vera and Oleg ... But first a stop to get it all washed and ready for them to use until we are able to sort out what they are going to do.

They were able to get their car rolled back over, th broken glass removed and running again  then Sergey brought it back to the farm to start working on it .. not sure if it is fixable or if it will be sold off for parts, and we will help them replace it .

In a few days we will have a large travel team at the farm for about a week. The boys are down to the wire cleaning and painting the kitchen / dinning room .  Next up they will paint the floor and put everything back in.

The final trim is being put on the outside counter and sink area .

While the work is being done inside Olivtina has a few boys and is carefully washing and sanitizing everything before they put things back together.

Julie is still in Newfoundland looking after Amelia until they are able to find Day care .. It has been a big job forr her since her little

boss can be rather demanding, but at the same time she is blessed that she is able to do it.  In a few weeks , Julie and I will meet up in Toronto then fly to Santa Rosa Beach for the weekend.  We will be meeting with a team that will be cominhg to Kyrgyzstan this fall, then attending an international missions Day at New Life Church .. we are looking so forward to this.  Monday we will fly back to Toronto and Julie will catch a conecting flight back to Newfoundland to resume her duties after the long weekend.

Think of THREE GOOD THINGS !

This weekend the boys are taking a little break from the work at the farm, and have headed up to the camp.  Their goal this weekend is to dig two out houses and bury a water pipe about 1/2 a mile through the mountain.

It is a lot of work through the rock, but it will be nice to have running water.  who knows, we may end up going there to get water for the rest of the farm.

before they left last night they got the first coat of paint on the kitchen .

The sink has been installed in the counter .

We had some difficult news this morning from Vera and Oleg.  They had an accident this morning on their way to the orphanage.  They are ok but their car not so much.

I was able to reach Sergey when he came out of the mountain.  He has contacted them and on Monday he will bring them our car and take theirs back to the shop to see if there is anything we can do .

1. They are not hurt,   2. Sergey is there and can help them, and   3. We have a car there that we can lend them.... OK so thats THREE GOOD THINGS.

Praying for peace for them at this difficult time .
