A few great ideas

I got some great ideas for ways to make such a bid difference in the lives of some of the young boys and girls we have conection with .

The first comes from Vera , she writes ;

John, good afternoon. How are you?

I wanted to ask if you could help us with finances for a summer children's camp. We want to hold a camp after July 20. For 5 days, for 20 children. We have some finances, but not enough, everything is getting expensive now. We need another 30,000 soms ( $500 CDN), These are prizes for children, goodies, stationery, sports equipment, etc.   If you can help us, we will be very grateful., also Today we are going to pick up Samaritan gifts, this year we ordered 500 pcs.   We want to start distributing in July and after the distribution hold a summer camp.

Handing out boxes with Vera

this day we hostes 250 kids

These Samaritan Purse boxes are always a big event, but are xpensive for the teams on the ground .  They will be hosting a party for the kids , plus have the transportation expences .. Part of why they are asking for support.

The next up is a request from sergey and the boys at the farm.  Every year the boys save up so that they can go on a 5 day trip around like IsyKool .  The boys cover their expences, and I cover the cost of the gas for the bus , and usualy one nice meal out.  This year they have noticed and been talking to the parrents of some of the families we have been helping .  It turns out that many of the kids have never even seen Lake Isykool , and some have never been further away then Tokmok.  Thy would like to offer to bring these kids along with them.  So Today Sergey writes ;

Could you post a need on the blog? We need money for the boys from these disadvantaged families for the trip. About 30,000 soms( $500 CDN) is the minimum for the trip. If there are people who will help more then we can make the vacation more interesting. God willing. Thank you.

A couple days ago we got word from Acel that it was Camp season for some of our kids in Bishkek , like Kamallas girls and a few others .. the cost for this four day camp of camp for 5 of our girls is 25000 som. ($400 CDN)  .. So in total, we are looking for at least $1400 for summer camps if anyone out there would like to help with this.

and in other news, we had a rain way up in the mountains last night , and when they went up to prepare the Kashr for guests coming tomorrow morning they found that the rod had washed out.. this time a little more thenn the boys could fill in.  We had to hire an earth mover to rebuild the road .. it had a 2 1/2 food trence carved through it .

But on a brighter note , the gardens are coming along well.

Time to book !

The time is rapidly approaching for us to purchase our tickets back to Kyrgyzstan. We have two teams coming and so much planned. The first team is coming the middle of August , so we have to travel a couple weeks earlier this year .

As I am finding out, the summer rates are a little higher so it looks like it will be the milk run for us again going back.   So with all that said , we need some help with this.  Next week will be the cheapest week for us to book , then the prices will start to go up.  Please consider a special one time donation to help us with this need.

Travel ready

As soon as we got home from Kyrgyzstan , Julie and I quickly got our passports in for renewal .. this could take up to a couple months and with a pending mail strike it could take even longer .  We were so thrilled when in just 12 days we had our new passports back in hand,  and we are good to travel again.

Over the next couple months we hope to visit sponsors , and share some of the current need that we have been working on .   Here are some of the needs we would like to get covered before wee go back.

Over the past few weeks I have posted some needs that we have right now and thought I should do an update so people can see where we stand .   Just a couple days ago I shared about Andreis mom cancer treatement . We were looking for $1000 USD .  so far $1000 Canadian has come in and been sent , so we just need another $280 to cover the currency exchange . As soon as it comes in I will forward that along as well.

I posted about the wind ripping off  Sergeys Roof, and the need for about $1000 in building supplies for this .  so far nothing has come in but they need to get going on this so at this point any amount would be a great blessing to hm.

I also posted about tuition for Kamala's girls school .  Nothing extra has come in for this need yet If you can help.

But here is what we did accomplish.  The roof has been replaced on the apartment in Bishkek.  A young boy with Cerebral palsy  got a new walker, The truck got new tires so we can get it back on the road . and Baktagul was able to get a phone, and some of the things that she will need for when she goes into hospital to have the baby shortly.  Also we have given the deposit for Julieas Tuition for the fall.  The young mom with the house needing repair is being helped to get all the documents for the house in order so that no one can take it from her if we help to fix it up.

There is another need that we have coming up.  We are in the process of registering the work in Kyrgyzstan as a social fund to keep up with ever changing regulations .  This is going to be about $1000 to set up , and we are just waiting for those funds to be able to move forward.

If you would like to help with any of these needs, please use one of the donate links at the top right side of the blog.  Thank you so much

Urgent need .

I always tell people that we do not have money ourselves , all we can do is share a need and then it is up to God to impress on someone's heart to help .   Today is one of those cases when all I can do is make the need known then make a way to transfer the funds and assure that they go where intended .

Here is a note I just received. From a friend in Kyrgyzstan.  He is the director of an orphanage and an advocate for the fatherless .   He writes ..

Hello my dear brother John & your precious family,

This is your friend, pastor Andrei from Kyrgyzstan,

I hope you are good & your family too!

Heard it through the God Vine .

Last spring as Quentin and I were working in the garden, he said to me that we should plant some current bushes because they were good for atracting the bees.  I called a nurcery I knew but they had no idea where we would find them, so we went into the bazaar looking but again no one knew were to look.  On our way home we drove up to the mountain to see our Mountain bees .   Talbek was not home, but we went out and played with the bees for a while while we waited .  Finaly we gave up waiting and headed back down the mountain .. On our way down we met Talbek racing back up ... he hopped out so happy to see us .. He said "I am so glad I caught you .  I have some current bushes here for you ,  they are really good for the bees!"
Quentin asked if I had called him , wondering how he knew we were out looking for currents, and how did he know .. I told him it must have heard it through the God Vine  .
They were just tinny little stickes when we planted them last spring, this year they are bushing out, and already have started to give fruit.
in the midle picture bellow you can see them making a boarder on the left side of the garden beside the zuccini.

Very soon the cherries will be ready .  They use these mostly for juice .  but some are made into  a pie filling  and put into jars to be used in baking through out the year.

The first week of June is always the weeding week when we get the gardens under control.  If we weed earlier the seed plants are two small and delicate , but if we wait until now it is easier to sort the plants from the weeds .

This week is also the cutting of the small hay field behind the orchard .  This is harvested by hand and put loose up in the barn.

The boys are doing great keeping up with the flower gardens as well.  Its good for them to stop and appreciate the beauty .

As soon as the nesturtiums are a bit bigger I will let them know how tastey they are , and the right way to pick them so that they keep growing . The leaves and the flowers are both really good and taste like pepper.  It makes them nice in a salad.

The apples and the approicots are starting to form on the trees now. and the beets are looking good .. so far I see apple sauce , pickled beets and Zuccini bread and relish on the list for the fall teams to can and pickle .

I have a few needs that I will try to post tomorrow.  They will be ready to share as soon as we gather a bit more information and confirm the needs .. stay tuned for an opertunity to be a blessing.
