Several years ago as we were struggling to meat the needs with the produce grown on The farm, we noticed that many of the families we delivered food to had the land but had no garden. We questioned them about this .. the difficulty is that spring is the time to plant and in the spring people are still trying to get over a long hard winter.
Many said that they were so hungry that they ate all there seed potatoes, and some had even boiled and eaten the beans that they had saved to plant.
That's when we decided to start giving out seeds with a small spring food hamper. This way they could plant their own gardens.
