Gardens prepared

Sore and tired but a lot accomplished... That's how I would describe today .  Tommy and I tilled the garden .  We had the boys bring over old manuer and spread it out then we rottilled it into the dirt to break it up mix it to make good planting soil.

So lots of mixing and stiring then dumped it down the rows

I got a photo today from my grand daughter and her friends cheering us on.

This is the first time we have tried the landscaping cloth . It will help with both weeds and water retention ,and being white it will help with over heating in the hot summer

Now we are burning little holes that we will plant through.

We have a can on the end of a stick that we heat up with a torch. This makes a clean hole and seals the fabric from tearing.

Here the boys are mixing the dirt

Vlad is back to the farm now and was working along with the rest of us.

Tomorrow morning we will start the planting.  Root crops and salads will grow between the cloth and in the cloth we will plant Tomatoes, Peppers, cucumbers, cabbages, and egg plant.  Then we have another big garden that will be planted with sweet corn.
