PLEASE HELP....

As you know, My heart is in Central Asia, and in fact this week was to be the week I would share our plans for return, and begin fund raising. But I need you to stop for a moment and consider something ... I have to struggle at times to make sure that I keep my focus, which is especially difficult when PI is involved in so many worth while places around the world, But I do believe right now that I NEED to set that aside for a moment... in fact I am asking the same thing from our own supporters... those of you who have been walking this journey with us.... I believe strongly that right now we all need to collectively turn our attention to the disaster in Haiti...

Right now as I type this, our friends and dream agents are laterally pulling the bodies of those they know and love from the rubble of what was their homes... Our children's home there has been transformed into an emergency medical clinic, and we have a team with two nurses on the ground in place now, and we are preparing to send Scott Welten, ( Sam and Vee's son who just returned from Haiti on Saturday ) to assist as he has a first hand working relationship with the people of Haiti...

This is Scott here with a group of boys from the home
that he is taking shopping ..
As well, we have already set up an emergency relief fund, and have begun transferring funds to help with immediate needs such as medical supplies and clean water. this fund can be accessed from the US by following this link

As many of you know, PI is all about helping those that have fallen through the cracks of society, and today in Haiti, the cracks are more then we can count... I do not believe for one second that the relief should begin from the top down, but we need to start were the need is the greatest, and when we can be the most effective...

I want to take a moment and bring you up to speed about our dream agents ...

There exists in Haiti a family that spends their time, energy, passion and resources to bring hope and help to the locals. Bill and Susette Manassero and their family have lived in Port-au-Prince, Haiti for six years. They started homes for boys and girls that are filled with kids who used to live on the streets. In these homes, the children are given an education, fed, loved and looked after by the Manassero family as well as several other teachers including volunteers from all over the planet.
Bill, Susette and their team not only look after these kids (who are aged anywhere between infant and seventeen) but also teach the kids to look after each other as well as the community. In April, they started up a feeding program where, three times a week, kids from the street and the community can come and have a free meal as well as sing, dance and play. This program is headed up by Dana, a volunteer from the United States and some of the older boys and girls that live at these homes. In addition to Dana, the Manassero family even has a pair of nurses that stay with them who run clinics at the homes to care for the children in the homes themselves as well as the neighbouring community.
This family and their team do amazing work in Port-au-Prince and this small paragraph does not scratch the surface of the impact they are making. For more information on Bill, Susette and their team, visit http://www.childhope.org/ .
....

Please remember them at this time as they struggle to bring HOPE and restore DIGNITY in this difficult time. I can only imagin what this would be like if it were us dealing with a disaster of this magnitude whith those we love....

Right now Sam is meating with our board as well as individual supporters as they work to put the plan into place, but this plane will have to be assembled in the air.... Later today he will have more information and reports available on our iam1ru blog http://www.iam1ru.blogspot.com/

I would also ask that you take a moment and share with those you know about this need.. repost on your blogs, on FB, forward this link to your email list... what ever oit takes... but right now is when we need to HELP....

If donating from Canada, please use this link
