Where did all the Potatoes go ?

Give an orphan food

and they will eat for a day,

Teach them to grow their own food and....

and some jerk will steel it!

It can be a cruel world out there, but thanks to Sergey and Anya, and their friends at Loads of Love, WE can make sure that these kids will still eat this winter.

I know that there are some of you reading this blog from Halafax and Espinola, two destinations that they will be visiting in the next couple of weeks...here is something I found out. I took Sergey shopping at Canadian tire. he bought break cables for his bicycle....his van is kapootski..

and he and his helper are now delivering supplies on bike.

just thought you might like to know!

Virtual missions trip

Threw Internet pledges, we have seen some amazing things happen in the past. We have done everything from bringing Orphans to an amusement park to purchasing a house to reclaim a family from the local dump.
.
If you are following along and see somewhere you would like to help, now you can donate on line threw Canada Helps . By clicking on this link, you can not only get a tax receiptable donation, we will do our best to post the story and photos so you can see your dollars put into action

All donations will go through Possibilities International, There is a memo line that gives you a opportunity to give special instructions to Sam about where you would like this donation utilized.

preparing for the next trip

Suddenly we are down to the wire. In a few weeks I will be heading for Xxxxx . Xxxx is a restricted nation tat we have been supporting the widows and orphans for many years now.
I will be traveling with a diverse, and incredible team. About half the team I have personally traveled with in the past. they are an incredible group of individuals that bring so much to the table. The other half of the team have been great encouragement in the past with there support and encouragement. This will be the first time on a short term missions for them. It is always an incredible experience to travel with people on their first trip. The emotions are always raw.
I think that without this we tend to become desensitised to what is going on around us.

We will be having many visitors to the sight from family and friends over the next couple of months. If that's you.... welcome, we are glad to have you. I would recommend checking out the archives from October and November 2005 and 2006. These archives are from some of the previous team trips.

At the bottom of this post you will find a comment box. feel free to leave a comment, or ask questions and we can respond on the blog.

If you are reading the team posts and think God is calling you do more, whether sending or going, its never to late. You can email me at sunmasterjohn@aol.com

AND THAT LADIES AND GENTELMEN IS WHY THE REST OF THE WORLD HATES US!

I was watching David Letterman tonight, and he had a lady on showing all the "cool " new toys, and one of them was ...get this.... a bubble machine that blew flavored bubbles for your dog to play with. Dave looked at her in near disbelief and said " AND THAT LADIES AND GENTELMEN IS WHY THE REST OF THE WORLD HATES US!"
Now for all you smug self righteous Canadians who love to think that we in Canada are better than all that, let me show you exhibit A.
That's right Flavored tennis balls actually made there way into my home this week.....I am not quite sure where they came from.....I tend to miss a lot you know...., but nun the less they are there. I think ours are bacon flavored. You know one day we are going to be held accountable.....I sure hope I won't be asked to defend them!
We picked up our friends from Central Asia today. Sergy and Anya head up all the humanitarian aid that we do in Central Asia. As we drove home, we passed some monster homes. Anya asked "Wow how many families live in that house?" when we said "Just One" she said responded by suggesting how many orphanages could be helped with all that money.

How far back did we cross the line ?

Where is Mogley Now

This is Mogely ( middle ) with a couple of his friends, He was a really friendly kid that hung out with the team working at the orphanage. When Mogely was just a baby his father broke him in half and threw him out with the trash. The last time we were in that orphanage, mogely had just turned 16 and would be soon leaving. One of the guys on the team wanted to do something special , so he gave Mogely his watch. The next day, Mogely was not there. When we asked around, we were just told that he could not come out today..... every day it was the same thing. Then when it was almost time to leave, we decided to find out for sure what had happened to him. We found out that the other kids had tried to take the watch from him, and the noise had drawn the attention of the Government worker. Seeing the watch, she decided to keep it for herself
, but did not want us to know so she locked him in a room upstairs . When we would come and go we would see him waving from a little window on the top floor ..........I wonder where he is now!

BROKEN AND DISLOCATED PIECES OF THE UNIVERSE

Every summer, My niece comes to visit my mom, and together with my two girls , they always work on a "project". This year, the project was a mosaic. The four of them began the project by traveling around Peterborough looking for old pieces of coloured glass. They decided to make a new top for an old patio table that
we inherited from their great grandparents many years ago. They decided on a plan, drew it out on paper then began laying out the pieces. Before our very eyes, what was a bunch of old broken pieces of glass and a rusty table, turned into a work of art.
As I look at how they took a bunch of old recycled , rejected material, and found the beauty in it, I am reminded of how there are children and seniors around this world that are rejected and considered to have no value. fortunately God sees the potential beauty in them all.
Colossians 1: 18/20 (The Message)
"From beginning to end he's there, towering far above everything, everyone. So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies ."

Lets take a moment in prayer for some of the "Broken and dislocated pieces of the universe"

THE SECRET PLACE

One of my earliest memories as a child was sitting in the window of a cottage in the mountains in Quebec. It was built by my fathers life long best friend. I think that the reason that day impressed on me so much is because it was sitting in that window I first heard about Gods plan for salvation. It was many years later that I understood that incredible gift. To this day that window has been MY SECRET PLACE. It may seem silly, but I have always felt that no mater what life threw at me I could always retreat to that window and be shielded under the shadow of God.
Nearly 40 years later, that secret place still exists.....It's just not so secret any more. Today that one cottage is now many ,and operates as a secret place for anyone who needs that fresh touch. I guess it's not just me... It has become a place of refreshing and encouragement for many. Today the property has a new guardian.....My dads buddy is still around....but his daughter and Son in law live on that mountain. God has given us great friends in Dave and Barbra and their four kids. Acts 1 v 8 tells us to be Gods witness in our homes and in our village and in our country and around the world. Dave's family lives that every day.
From Les Clairieres Canada to a Lake in Central Asia, the investment this family has made to humanity has been a testimony to Gods Grace......With accommodations like this It's no wonder the youth missions trip went so well.
Psalm 91
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
