They are all worth teaching ....

An early start to the day today, we had teaching at the invalid home in the morning , and then lunch with some of Bekah's friends, so I had to get to the market early and get lunch on... There is a wonderful think about buying meat here in KG there are two prices for meat.. the good stuff with lots of fat, or the cheaper meat that is lean... like the center eye of a prim rib roast ... So I picked up a 10lb prime rib roast for about $11. I also found a Dungun lady at the bazaar that peals washes and cuts up potatoes for you , and sells them for the same price that others are selling regular potatoes for... so I picked up a bit of time there ... Lunch was prepared and in the oven by 9:0 and we were off to the invalid home... Great place to bring our translator on his first day.

We divided the guys into two classes today . The first class is the original class from last week with 10 guys... well 14 guys hahaa that are eager to learn English.. the second class Bekah and I taught is the ones that might need a little more help, or that wander down the hall to see whats going on, and want to stop in for a visit.. A little more ..shall we say distracted.. I began with the letter A " Who can say A?" no response, so I began asking them one at a time .. the first guy just looked at me, then Sergey said.. "Oh he can not speak!".. so I asked the second guy..."Oh he is deaf..?" so to the third man I turned and from him I got a big long aaaaaaaalaaaaaaaaahaahaaaaaaaaaaa .. GOOD START... EVERY ONE NOW aaaaaaalaahaahaaaaahaaaaa... I was thrilled with the accomplishment we had just made, then My ears perked up as I heard from Julies Room in unison... HELLO, MY NAME IS ______WHAT IS YOUR NAME ... HOW ARE YOU... I AM GOOD.....

At which point Bekah said to me... It's OK dad ... we have the ART class.... But you know what ..it does not matter what we were teaching , it is simply the fact that some one has made a trip out there to see them, and to be with them, and to take the time to invest a little something into their lives....

For possibly the first time, at 60 years old, Valerya is learning .. today it we have tought him aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaaaaaa,

But what he learned is that he is worth something .. and that he is special...

I love this John, I really, really do. I love that you are showing that ALL deserve to be cared about, that ALL can learn if someone cares enough to spend time, and that it ISN'T totally about the education of someone but about the caring and nurturing. Please keep posting more about this venture!
